BMD Global supports Lifeblood, the thrombosis charity

As part of BMD Global’s active and ongoing support to Lifeblood - The Thrombosis Charity, Tony Armstrong (MD) recently took part in Lifeblood’s National Bus Tour Roadshow, visiting key sites around the country. It started in London with a PR launch and enjoyed a great send off by TV Personality, Sue Barker.

The campaign, during Thrombosis Awareness Week was to raise the issue with the public and healthcare professionals alike about the risks of hospital-acquired Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), signs, symptoms, and treatments.

‘A simple and cheap injection to be given to hospitalised patients who are prone to developing DVT has to be the way to go,’ said Tony. ‘Such a simple procedure as this will save many thousands of people of all ages and genders who lose their lives to this ‘silent killer’ every year in the UK,’

‘The consequences of suffering a DVT, plus the effect they have on loved ones, families and friends of those struck down by this condition are very traumatic indeed,’ he continued. ‘So anything we can do to reduce this risk by changing hospital practices has to be a good thing,’ - ‘It is a preventable condition,’ he said.
